I’m looking for quick but legit training - last quarter I took Tooling U-SME’s spindle diagnostics micro-course and used their tip about trending 1x/2x vibration to flag a dying spindle bearing on our Okuma before it ate itself. What weekend or online classes have actually made your troubleshooting faster (PLC, drives, probing, etc.), and were they worth the time?
Quick win for me was FANUC’s short PMC/ladder diagnostics class — learned to pull up the ladder monitor and watch the interlock bits live, which let me catch a flaky chuck-clamp switch that was killing Cycle Start instead of chasing alarms all night. The trick was jumping straight to the PMC status page and toggling the suspect input to see which bit stayed high when it shouldn’t. Are you mostly on OSP or FANUC on your floor?
