I beat “vise jaw lift” on Ti and 17–4 by switching to anti-lift jaws and using a preset torque handle while tapping the part down — like tightening lug nuts, even and steady. If you can’t buy hardware, cut a tiny negative step in your soft jaws (about 0.002–0.003"), clamp low, and seat the stock before final torque; that took me from about 0.004" lift to under 0.0005". For air gaging Ti bores, my fix was adding a coalescing + desiccant filter right before the gage and dialing a needle valve to the OEM spec — “wet air reads big”; I still verify with the masters at machine temp for sanity.
