Importance of Measuring Tools for Tight Tolerances

I’ve been working with aerospace components for a few years now, and I can’t stress enough how critical it’s to have quality measuring tools. Using calipers and micrometers that can measure within a thousandth of an inch has saved me countless headaches during assembly. What are some of your go-to tools when precision is non-negotiable?

Absolutely agree — using calipers and micrometers for tight tolerances is a must; i’ve had great luck with digital micrometers; they cut down the reading errors. What’s been your experience with specific brands?

And you’re spot on about precision tools! I’ve found that a good height gauge can work wonders when setting up parts for machining — like having a trusty sidekick. How do you balance the need for accuracy with speed in your setup process, @carl_mendoza72?

Totally agree! I love my digital calipers, they’re so precise. Have you ever tried laser measuring tools for even tighter tolerances?.
