That’s it for this week’s rundown. It seems like a perfect time to explore new opportunities. Whether you’re looking for something local or eyeing a remote gig, there’s something for everyone. Keep pushing forward and good luck with the job hunt!

But what’s worked for me is putting the controls and materials I’ve run at the top of the resume (Haas/Fanuc, Mazatrol; 4140, Inconel) and adding one photo of a finished part with the setup sheet. > Please apply promptly. I take that and call the shop right after applying to ask about machine mix and shifts — it’s landed me same-week interviews; for rare remote roles, keep a clean sample program ready.

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌

Quick example: I’ve gotten faster callbacks by adding a one-liner up top like “Available for 2nd/3rd; can program at the control; relocate 50 mi” and then calling within 24 hours to ask about lot sizes and tolerances. Remote ops are scarce, but if you do CAM, look at remote programmer/DFM roles or partner networks like Xometry’s Marketplace: https://www.xometry.com/. It’s like a setup — do the prep, then hit cycle start fast.

I’ve had better luck attaching a one-page job card with a setup shot, the exact machine/control (Haas VF-2 + Fanuc), material, tolerance held (+/- 0.0005"), and cycle time — hiring managers treat it as quick proof of work, kind of like a menu at a taco truck. It won’t replace a full resume/portfolio, but paired with @asmith45’s approach it gets quicker replies when postings close fast; try naming the PDF with a keyword from the ad.
